In this interview, following this last major competition before Rio2016, we catch up with the World Indoor Shot Put Champion about his final preparations, and how he has worked together with his coach, former Australian Shot putter: Dale Stevenson, to develop his technique and training and make the 24 year old New Zealander a serious medal contender in Rio. Together with Valerie Adams and Jacko Gill, Walsh has contributed to making the “Land of the Long White Cloud” traditionally known as a Rugby stronghold, into a Shot Put powerhouse with three of the world’s best throwers represented in the New Zealand Olympic Team of just 14 Track and Field athletes. In this interview, Tom talks about how he has been helped and motivated by his fellow Kiwi’s over the years.
